Al Hamra Mall, Ras Al Khaimah: stores, hours and who actually owns it

Al Hamra Mall is the shopping centre serving Al Hamra Village and the resort strip on the western side of Ras Al Khaimah, with roughly 130 stores across about 27,000 square metres, anchored by a Spinneys supermarket and a VOX Cinemas multiplex. It opened in 2010, and since February 2022 it has been owned by Aldar Properties rather than by the developer Al Hamra, which is the single detail most mall guides still get wrong.

Two things visitor guides get wrong · last verified 11 October 2026

There is no Carrefour here. The anchor supermarket is Spinneys. The Carrefour people are looking for is at My City Centre Al Dhait, a separate centre elsewhere in Ras Al Khaimah. And Al Hamra no longer owns Al Hamra Mall. Al Hamra sold it to Aldar Properties in February 2022 for 410 million dirhams, roughly 111.6 million dollars, in Aldar's first acquisition outside Abu Dhabi. The name stayed; the owner changed. What you need to know

Size and store count

About 27,000 square metres of gross leasable area over two levels, carrying roughly 130 stores. One outlier source puts the total area at 37,000 square metres; the 27,000 figure is the one that recurs across listings and in the reporting around the 2022 sale, so it is the one we use here.

Anchors and cinema

A Spinneys supermarket anchors the mall, with VOX Cinemas as the multiplex. One listing describes the cinema as an eight-screen venue, but we have not been able to confirm the screen count against VOX directly, so treat that number as unverified.

Under Aldar since 2022

Aldar acquired the mall through Aldar Investments in February 2022 and also secured development rights over an additional 11,200 square metres of gross floor area, with an option on a further 7,400 square metres for retail and commercial use. A major revamp followed, reported as completed in 2024, which added new retailers.

How it compares to Manar Mall

Al Hamra Mall is treated as the emirate's flagship in most visitor guides, but on floor area it is the smaller of the two main malls. Manar Mall expanded from 27,000 to 55,000 square metres, roughly double Al Hamra Mall's footprint. The two were both Al Hamra assets until the 2022 sale split them between different owners.

Getting there

The mall sits on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Salem Road, the E11, inside Al Hamra Village on the western coast of the emirate. It is a short drive from the Al Hamra Village resorts and the golf course, and close to Al Marjan Island, which makes it the practical shopping stop for anyone staying on either. From Ras Al Khaimah city it is a drive down the coast road; from Dubai, roughly an hour by car. See our RAK Airport guide for arrival and transfer options.

Frequently asked questions

What are Al Hamra Mall's opening hours?

The mall opens 10:00 to 22:00 Sunday through Thursday, and 10:00 to midnight on Friday and Saturday. Individual stores set their own hours within and sometimes beyond that window, so check with a specific retailer if you are travelling for one shop.

Is there a Carrefour at Al Hamra Mall?

No. Al Hamra Mall is anchored by a Spinneys supermarket. The Carrefour in Ras Al Khaimah that people are usually looking for is at My City Centre Al Dhait, a different centre in another part of the emirate.

Who owns Al Hamra Mall?

Aldar Properties, since February 2022, when it bought the mall from the developer Al Hamra for 410 million dirhams, about 111.6 million dollars. It was Aldar's first acquisition outside Abu Dhabi. The mall kept the Al Hamra name, which is why many guides still credit the wrong owner.

How many shops are in Al Hamra Mall?

Roughly 130 stores across about 27,000 square metres on two levels, covering fashion, home, beauty and speciality retail, plus a food hall and a VOX Cinemas multiplex. A revamp reported as completed in 2024 added further retailers.

Which cinema is at Al Hamra Mall?

VOX Cinemas. One listing describes it as an eight-screen multiplex, though we have not confirmed that screen count with VOX directly. Manar Mall, the other main mall in the emirate, has Novo Cinemas instead, including the first IMAX screen in Ras Al Khaimah.

Is Al Hamra Mall bigger than Manar Mall?

No. Al Hamra Mall covers about 27,000 square metres. Manar Mall was expanded from 27,000 to 55,000 square metres, which makes it roughly double the size, even though Al Hamra Mall is more often described as the emirate's flagship.
