Key facts
  • 670,000 visitors in the first half of 2026, a record for the emirate.
  • Domestic and GCC travellers accounted for the bulk of the increase.
  • Hotel occupancy held above 70% through the summer months.
  • RAKTDA is targeting 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030.

Ras Al Khaimah welcomed 670,000 visitors in the first six months of 2026, the highest half-year figure the emirate has recorded. The tourism authority attributes the rise to domestic and regional demand, new hotel keys on Al Marjan Island and expanded air links through RAK International Airport.

What the numbers show

Growth was broad rather than concentrated in a single month, with the strongest performance over the spring shoulder season. Average length of stay edged up, which matters more to operators than headline arrivals: longer stays lift food, beverage and activity spend per guest.

Occupancy held above 70% through the summer, a period that historically softens across the northern emirates. Operators on Al Hamra and Al Marjan report firmer rates alongside the higher volumes.

The emirate is converting awareness into repeat visits, and that changes the economics for every operator on the coast. RAK Tourism Development Authority

Aviation is the constraint

Air access remains the limiting factor. The resumption of direct PIA services and additional regional capacity ease it, but RAK still routes a large share of arrivals through Dubai. Each new direct route measurably shortens the gap between interest and booking.

Hotels and the 2027 pipeline

The supply picture shifts sharply in 2027, when Wynn Al Marjan Island opens. Operators are pricing ahead of that arrival, and the pipeline of branded residences and mid-market keys is being timed to it.

What to watch next

Three indicators will tell you whether the record holds: monthly occupancy through the winter season, new route announcements from RAK International Airport, and the rate at which off-plan hospitality projects convert to handover.
