Ras Al Khaimah to Establish World's First Personal Flying Car Regulatory Sandbox

In a move that signals Ras Al Khaimah's ambition to lead the next frontier of transportation, the emirate has signed a landmark agreement with XPENG AEROHT to establish the world's first regulatory sandbox for personal flying cars. This initiative aims to test the safety, efficiency, and integration of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles within a controlled environment.

The partnership involves close collaboration between XPENG and UAE authorities to develop a comprehensive legal and operational framework. By creating a 'sandbox,' RAK allows for the real-world testing of autonomous flight technologies and air traffic management systems without the immediate constraints of traditional aviation laws, accelerating the path to commercial viability.
