What happened
SDH Capital, the Mayfair and Malta-based family office owned by db Group, has opened an office in Ras Al Khaimah, its first Middle East base following the establishment of its London office. The new office is managed by Jonas Vetter, appointed VP of Investments, based in RAK and supported by the London and Malta teams. SDH Capital's mandate covers investment structuring, partnership development and management of international interests spanning hospitality, real estate and related sectors.
The move adds a private-capital data point to Ras Al Khaimah's wealth-hub narrative, which has so far been carried mainly by institutional moves such as RAK ICC's new Business Centre for advisors and family offices, and the RAK Leaders Club's October forum for principals. A European family office choosing to staff a dedicated investment role in RAK — rather than cover the region remotely from London — suggests the emirate's private-wealth pitch is beginning to convert into on-the-ground commitments, not just conference attendance.
