Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) has teamed up with National Road Transport Company (NRTC) Group to launch a month-long workplace wellness programme coinciding with Emirati Women's Month in August. The initiative targets over 2,000 female employees across RAKEZ's 18,000 registered companies, as well as women entrepreneurs in the free zone's business centres.
The programme includes free health screenings for breast cancer, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular risk; mental health resilience workshops led by licensed psychologists; nutrition and fitness challenges with wearable device tracking; and a pilot flexible working hours policy for participating companies. NRTC is providing mobile health units and logistics support for on-site activations.
RAKEZ Group CEO Ramy Jallad stated that the initiative reflects the free zone's commitment to the UAE Gender Balance Council's objectives and its own ESG framework launched in 2024. Data from the pilot will inform a permanent wellness framework to be integrated into RAKEZ's client value proposition.
The partnership also includes a mentorship scheme linking senior Emirati women leaders in logistics, manufacturing, and technology with early-career professionals. NRTC, which employs 35% women in its UAE workforce, aims to increase female representation in leadership roles to 30% by 2028.
This marks the first time a UAE free zone has partnered with a private sector logistics conglomerate for a structured wellness programme. Other free zones, including DMCC and JAFZA, are reportedly studying the model for potential adoption.
